《Flower of Happiness》는 이슬람 기하학 패턴인 Flower of Life에서 영감을 받아 제작된 작품이다. Flower of Life는 하나의 씨앗과 같은 원이 겹겹이 반복되며 확장되는 구조로, 생명의 생성과 우주의 질서, 모든 존재의 연결성을 상징한다.
동글이는 본래 원에서 시작된 캐릭터이다. 이번 작품에서는 동글이의 탄생 원형인 그 원이, 겹쳐지고 반복되는 과정을 거쳐 벚꽃으로 피어나는 순간을 그렸다. 벚꽃을 택한 데에는 실질적인 이유가 있다 — 작품을 만들던 시기가 마침 벚꽃이 만개하는 계절이었고, 벚꽃은 봄의 시작과 함께 찾아오는 설렘을 상징하는 꽃이기 때문이다. 원이라는 가장 오래되고 근원적인 생명의 패턴이, 한 해 중 가장 짧고 강렬하게 피었다 지는 벚꽃이라는 구체적인 형태로 태어나는 순간 — 이 작품은 그 지점을 담고 있다.

Flower of Happiness was inspired by the Flower of Life, an Islamic geometric pattern in which a single seed-like circle repeats and overlaps to expand outward — a structure symbolizing the generation of life, the order of the cosmos, and the connectedness of all things.
Dongli originally began as a character born from the circle. In this work, that same original circle — repeated and overlapped — blooms into a cherry blossom. The choice of cherry blossom was not only aesthetic: the work was made during the actual cherry blossom season, and the flower carries the specific anticipation that arrives with the start of spring. The moment when the oldest and most elemental pattern of life takes the form of a flower that blooms briefly and intensely, then falls — that is the moment this work holds.
The circles in the work repeat and connect to form a pattern, which gradually transforms into cherry-blossom-shaped flower-Dongli. Each flower symbolizes one happiness, and countless happinesses gather to form one vast current of life. Cherry blossoms bloom only briefly, yet leave behind an intense beauty. This work suggests that the small, ordinary happinesses we encounter in daily life are the same — happiness that begins in a circle becomes a flower, and that flower creates yet another connection.
